We had one day to visit Channel Islands National Park, so it seemed best to visit the largest and most visited island Santa Cruz. From everything I read, the island is a little bit all 5 in beaches,…Full review by Grover R
Are hiking poles a good idea for Cavern Point and Potato Harbor trails? I usually use them on rocky hikes but don't want to bring them if they are not needed.

We don't use hiking poles, but I don’t remember the trail to be especially rocky. We were just wearing tennis shoes and didn't have any problems.
Hi, are the storage lockers on the island secure from people? Do they have a lock or code to secure items. I want to bring my good camera for after our kayaking trip but I do not want to take it kayaking so I need to store it somewhere safe. Thanks for any help

There are tons of swimming areas. If you look up the Channel Islands Adventure Company they have a really helpful blog about snorkeling options on Santa Cruz Island! Any of the snorkeling areas are great for swimming as well. You can even jump off the pier if you want! The water is so crystal clear this time of year!

The only way to get to Santa Cruz Island is by ferry, Island Packers, from Ventura Harbor. The departure and arrival times are pre-set, so you have to plan to either stay the whole day or camp overnight. If you want to kayak, contact the Santa Barbara Adventure Co to arrange a tour. Their packages include the ferry ticket. Visiting Santa Cruz Island isn't your normal day trip, so it's very important that you read before going. There are a lot of great reports on TR that will help you plan your trip. We can't attach links here, but mine is titled, Trip Report: 2017 Parks Tour - Channel Islands NP (Aug 2017). You can also visit the Channel Islands visitor center, located in Ventura Harbor, prior to your planned trip. We visited the day before to learn more about what to expect and speak with rangers before making our trip.
