Future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant had another All-Star-worthy season for the Phoenix Suns in 2024-25. Unfortunately, it did nothing to stop them from being one of the most expensive disappointments in league history. Despite a $228 million payroll and a pair of top 20 players, the team didn’t even make the play-in tournament this spring.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Suns hired Jordan Ott as their next head coach on Wednesday. Ott will be hoping to fare better than his predecessors Mike Budenholzer and Frank Vogel, both of whom were fired after just one year on the job.

The Phoenix Suns paid an absolutely historic price to land Kevin Durant in 2023. Really think about the haul Brooklyn got with the benefit of hindsight: The Nets got four unprotected first-round picks (2023, 2025, 2027 and 2029) and one unprotected first-round swap (2028) directly.
