After a surprising 10-0 start, a program-record 11 wins and a trip to the College Football Playoff, some believe Indiana is destined to take a step backward in 2025.

The Big Ten’s Tony Petitti and the ACC’s Jim Phillips indicated Tuesday that expansion of the major postseason events might be delayed.

Petitti said a field determined by conference standings, rather than CFP rankings, would make the selection process more objective.

The Big Ten commissioner continues to advocate for a 16-team College Football Playoff format heavy with automatic qualifiers, saying it will enhance the regular season.
