(Reuters) -Indian food and grocery delivery platform Zomato said on Thursday it will rename the company to "Eternal" and unveiled a new logo, a move that comes more than two years after it began using the new name internally.

The Zomato app and brand name will remain unchanged. Blinkit grew materially larger than Zomato’s food delivery business in the past year. A number of analysts estimate that Blinkit will grow to account for as much as 70% of the group’s value in the coming year.

In a move that has surprised many, the online food delivery platform, Zomato, has decided to change the name of its parent company ‘Zomato Limited’ to ‘Eternal Limited.’ In a letter to shareholders, Zomato boss Deepinder Goyal said that the company's board has approved the name change.

Following shareholders' approval, Zomato's corporate website will transition to eternal.com, and the stock ticker will be updated to 'Eternal,' according to the co. The Zomato app will retain its name

Eternal is not a new name that Zomato had adopted suddenly, instead they first used the name when the company acquired quick-services application, Blinkit.

Zomato's founder Deepinder Goyal has announced the company's entry into the BSE Sensex, marking a major milestone 17 years after its inception. He announced in a post on X that the company has decided to rebrand as Eternal.
