Acclaimed British actress Helen Mirren has criticised the James Bond franchise for the way in which it portrays women, saying “the whole concept” of the movies is “drenched and born out of profound sexism.

Helen Mirren isn’t a fan of the idea of a female James Bond ― for good reason. “The whole series of James Bond, it was not my thing. It really wasn’t,” the Oscar winner said in a new interview with The Standard, published last week. “I never liked James Bond. I never liked the way women were in James Bond,” she said.
