LOS ANGELES (AP) — The archaic computer dispatch system for the nation’s largest sheriff’s department remained out of commission on Thursday after crashing on New Year’s Eve, forcing deputies to handle all calls by radio, authorities said.

First discovered: 6:25 a.m. Jan. 3 A new wildfire was reported today at 6:25 a.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on federal land managed by the United States Forest Service. At this time, the containment status is unknown and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

L.A. County overwhelmingly approved Prop. 47, which turned some nonviolent felonies into misdemeanors. This November, the county overhauled it and supported Nathan Hochman for district attorney.

The case comes less than a week after Gov. Gavin Newsom called a state of emergency over the spread of bird flu virus in the state.

A new wildfire was reported today at 4:50 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. Currently, there is no information on the containment of the fire and the cause of it has yet to be determined.

It's not clear how long it will take to fix the problem, but in the meantime deputies and dispatchers must use radios instead of patrol car computers.
