For the second time in this series, Kristaps Porzingis didn’t see any second-half action. The mysterious illness is still impacting the former Knick.
Boston’s third-string center played nearly the entire second half and delivered the most important performance of his winding NBA career. He scored 10 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked a career-high seven shots to help lift the Celtics to a 127-102 win over the New York Knicks in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
But then there's backup big man Luke Kornet, whose modest numbers (6.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.0 blocks) belie his ability to soak up minutes in the middle respectably. What the Celtics have gotten from Kornet in a do-or-die Game 5 situation, though, has been jaw-dropping.
The Boston Celtics are still alive against the New York Knicks. The Celtics pulled away to win Game 5, 127-102, on Wednesday night without star forward Jayson Tatum. The Knicks still lead the series, 3-2, and will have another chance to move to the Eastern Conference finals in Friday's Game 6.
