Kuwait on Sunday conferred its highest honour - 'The Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer' - on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his role in strengthening the good relations between the two countries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was bestowed with Kuwait's highest honour 'The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer' on Sunday. Prime Minister Modi received the honour from Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer’ is a knighthood order of Kuwait. It is awarded to Heads of State and foreign Sovereigns and members of foreign royal families.

India and Kuwait will look to strengthen ties in trade, defense and energy when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the Gulf nation on Saturday, the first by an Indian leader in more than four decades.

Prime Minister Modi's two-day visit to Kuwait marks the first by an Indian leader in 43 years. He held extensive talks with the Kuwaiti Emir and the Crown Prince on Sunday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kuwait on Saturday for a two-day official trip. During his stay, he will hold bilateral talks with the Gulf country's leadership and meet the Indian diaspora.Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah had invited PM Modi to Kuwait.

The two-day trip kickstarted on Saturday (21 Dec) when he received an invite from the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday will travel to Kuwait on a two-day visit, the first by an Indian premier in more than four decades.The last prime ministerial visit from the Indian side to Kuwait was 43 years ago.
