ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez was arrested Thursday morning. Channel 9 has learned that Lopez’s arrest comes after an extended investigation by federal and state law enforcement.

Florida authorities charged Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez with racketeering after he was arrested in connection with a sprawling criminal gambling operation in the Sunshine State. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) issued an executive order suspending Lopez from his position on Thursday after the sheriff was accused of being involved in a massive illegal gambling operation

A judge granted suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez a $1 million bond following his arrest related to an illegal gambling operation. Lopez will also have to wear a GPS monitor, surrender his firearms and passport.
