The U.S. Supreme Court decided on Wednesday to hear a bid by TikTok and its China-based parent company ByteDance to block a law intended to force the sale of the short-video app by Jan. 19 or face a ban on national security grounds.

A federal judge in California has agreed with WhatsApp that the NSO Group, the Israeli cybersurveillance firm behind the Pegasus spyware, had hacked into its systems by sending malware through its servers to thousands of its users' phones.

WhatsApp has prevailed against Israeli spyware maker NSO Group in a US lawsuit over NSO’s abuse of the messaging app to infiltrate the phones of journalists, activists and dissidents with its Pegasus hacking tool.

NSO Group, the organization behind the Pegasus spyware, has been found liable in a lawsuit brought by Meta’s WhatsApp over attacks on about 1,400 devices, as reported by The Record. NSO Group is liable for charges of violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act,

California District Court Judge Phyllis Hamilton granted the Meta-owned messaging service platform's motion for summary judgment against NSTO, finding the five-year-old case that it had violated the US Computer Fraud and Abuse Act with the pernicious spying program known as Pegasus, reported The Washington Post.

A US federal judge has ruled that NSO Group, the Israeli maker of the controversial Pegasus spyware, violated state and federal US hacking laws in a case filed by WhatsApp. The lawsuit accused NSO Group of infecting the phones of 1,400 individuals over a two-week period in May 2019.
