Global oil prices surpassed $114 per barrel on Monday after Iran ramped up attacks on energy facilities and ships in the Middle East.
Brent crude oil surged overnight on Thursday, April 30 to $126.41 a barrel, reported several news outlets, including CNN and CNBC. The price had dropped, but still remained over the $100-mark to just over $116 a barrel by 5 a.m. MT/6 a.m. CT.
Stocks in Asia slid on Tuesday while oil prices eased but remained well above $100 a barrel, as the U.S. and Iran continue to work towards a truce while at the same time trading blows over the Strait of Hormuz.
Brent was trading near $114 a barrel after rising almost 6% on Monday. Meanwhile, the West Texas Intermediate was lower than $105 a barrel.
