Nifty 50 was down 237 points and was trading below 26,000 mark, whereas BSE Sensex crashed nearly 660 points at 1:32 pm on Monday. The sharp decline in the Indian stock market today coincided with weak performance of its Asian stock market peers including Nikkei 225, Hang Seng, etc.

While initially bullish, the inevitable happened -- the stock's surge following the Microsoft news ultimately sparked a wave of profit-taking, bolstered by broader concerns that AI stocks were overvalued. It happens. Quite often, actually.

The BSE Sensex tumbled 803 points in the intraday to hit a low of 84,909, and the NSE Nifty50 also slipped below the 26,000 mark in the intraday to hit a low of 25,902.95

Shares of discount retailer Dollar General (NYSE:DG) fell 4.6% in the morning session after the stock was flagged as being in "overbought" territory, signaling a potential pullback. The decline followed a significant rally where the stock had soared 21.

Oracle missed its top line, delivering $16.06 billion when Wall Street had projected $16.21 billion for the quarter. It did, however, handily beat on its bottom line, reporting earnings per share (EPS) of $2.26 when $1.64 was expected.
