Vice President Kamala Harris' Brentwood neighborhood in Los Angeles was ordered to evacuate Tuesday night as wildfires continue to blaze in the area.

Ferocious wildfires worsened in the Los Angeles area overnight, tearing through homes and forcing tens of thousands to evacuate. Officials warned of devastating losses as the main blaze raced through the affluent Pacific Palisades neighborhood.

A wildfire raged across an upscale section of Los Angeles on Tuesday, destroying homes and creating traffic jams as 30,000 people evacuated beneath huge plumes of smoke that covered much of the metropolitan area.

Residents abandoned their cars and fled on foot, as high winds fueled flames raging between Santa Monica and Malibu. Officials warned it could worsen overnight.
