Prospect Medical is seeking approval for an expedited closure of Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland and Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, along Crozer's other health centers.

Prospect Medical Holdings edged closer Thursday to closing Delaware County’s Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital. The California for-profit owner of the health system told a bankruptcy judge in Texas that it planned to file a motion to close the hospitals in the Chester area and Ridley Park because it only has money to keep them open through March 14.

Crozer Health says no final decision has been made about the fate of two hospitals in Delaware County, despite indications that the company is planning to shut them down.

The emergency meeting is a last-ditch effort to keep hospitals in the Crozer Health System open. Residents like Gregory Logan, who is a cancer survivor, has been keeping a close eye on the situation.

Prospect's bankruptcy motion for the closure of Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital did not set a closure date, but said Prospect cannot fund operations beyond March 14.
