Get ready for more “John Wick.” Keanu Reeves is returning for “John Wick 5” as the nunchuck-wielding hitman, Lionsgate announced at CinemaCon on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, the action franchise is expanding with an animated prequel film as well as a Caine-centric standalone adventure from director-star Donnie Yen.
Ana de Armas plays dancer-turned-assassin on a mission of revenge and Keanu Reeves makes an appearance as John Wick in the action movie "Ballerina."
After years of speculation about the franchise’s future, John Wick: Chapter 5 is officially moving forward at Lionsgate. Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski are both back for the feature, following the previous installment, which ended with the death of the titular assasin.
The project has had a long road to the screen. It initially shot in 2022, and was scheduled to debut in theaters in June 2024, however last February, Lionsgate pushed the release to June 6, 2025. The extra time allowed John Wick guru Chad Stahelski to assist with upping the action working in tandem with helmer Wiseman on new sequences.
John Wick 5 is happening, and star Keanu Reeves will officially reprise his role as the eponymous hit man once again.
