Bone-chilling cold and slippery secondary roads closed Flint-area schools for the third straight day on Thursday, Jan. 23. The closings come after another overnight with single-digit temperatures and lingering snow showers expected to continue through early afternoon.

Dozens of school closings and delays have been announced across western Pennsylvania with sub-zero temperatures forecasted for Wednesday. A cold weather advisory is in place for most of the area until 1 p.

The closures range from the city to the suburbs, including elementary, middle and high schools in Palos Hills, Oak Lawn, Lyons, Calumet City, Crystal Lake, Elgin, Carpentersville, Antioch and Grayslake.
