PERHAPS THE BIGGEST ISSUE IN MISSOURI TUESDAY, AT LEAST IN OUR AREA, IS ONE FOR ALL OF JACKSON COUNTY TO DECIDE. VOTERS WILL CHOOSE IF THE JACKSON COUNTY ASSESSOR SHOULD BE ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE INSTEAD OF APPOINTED BY THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE.

It's Election Day in Missouri, and St. Louis-area voters will see a wide variety of local propositions on the ballot. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Opponents argue the Missouri Constitution is clear that lawmakers can only redraw congressional maps after a certified census, while the state said nothing prohibits mid-decade redistricting.
