IOWA CITY — The Iowa men’s basketball team lost for the third time in eight days, falling 72-67 to Minnesota Tuesday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeyes dropped to 3-5 in the Big Ten, 12-7 overall. Minnesota is 2-6, 10-9.
Odukale was big for Minnesota as it built a 63-46 lead on a pair of free throws by Garcia with 6:15 remaining. A 37% foul shooter this season, he hit a pair to give the Gophers a 70-65 lead with 51 seconds remaining.
Iowa cannot solve all of its problems this week but at the very least, it serves as a chance to steady the ship after a disastrous road trip.
But the Hawkeyes (12-6, 3-4 Big Ten) remain supremely confident in their abilities as they turn their attention to Minnesota (9-9, 1-6). The teams will tip off Tuesday night in Iowa City.
