As is often the case, fans of a sports team and upper management of that same team aren't on the same page. After a winter of St. Louis Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak trying — unsuccessfully — to trade third baseman Nolan Arenado, the veteran started Sping Training still on the roster.

The St. Louis Cardinals certainly tried to trade Nolan Arenado to the Houston Astros throughout the offseason. The two sides came to terms on a deal but Arenado used his no-trade clause to shut it down.

With Nolan Arenado trade talks losing traction recently, the Cardinals may begin shopping one of their veteran starting pitchers.

Arenado, 33, is now “considering a potential deal to Houston” after the team improved its roster over the last couple of months, per MLB.com. In the deal that got killed in December, the Cardinals were set to send $15-20 million to the Astros for Arenado, who is owed $74 million over the next three years.

The St. Louis Cardinals are in a tricky and unexpected spot right now. St. Louis looked to trade star third baseman Nolan Arenado all throughout the offseason but failed to do so. The Cardinals superstar turned down a trade to the Houston Astros using his no-trade clause.
