The Vanderbilt Commodores men’s basketball team knew that things were going to get much tougher on the hardwood after they completed their non-conference schedule with an impressive 12-1 record. While their strength of schedule wasn’t very imposing,

Vanderbilt basketball defeated South Carolina 66-63 on a last-second putback by Devin McGlockton on Wednesday night at Memorial Gymnasium. The Commodores got off to a good start, leading 33-26 at halftime after forcing 16 turnovers in the first half.

Leading 63-61, Vanderbilt guard AJ Hoggard lost control of the ball in the lane and grabbed the ankle of South Carolina forward Collin Murray-Boyles with 41.1 seconds left. After a review, the officials called a Flagrant 1 foul. Murray-Boyles made the two free throws to tie it at 63-all and South Carolina got the ball back.

Devin McGlockton was in perfect position to clinch Vanderbilt basketball's desperately needed win against South Carolina.

Followed by his key block on the previous play, Devin McGlockton's last-second, put-back layup pushes the Commodores past the Gamecocks, 66-63.
