Denver Public Schools called the decision to investigate the conversion of a women’s restroom into an all-gender facility as potential discrimination “unprecedented.”

The probe comes after President Donald Trump repeatedly promised on the campaign trail to drive what he called “transgender insanity” out of schools.

The U.S. Department of Education is investigating an all-gender restroom at East High School in Denver. Kournikova, who stays mostly out of the spotlight, has been with singer Enrique Iglesias since 2001.

The department said in a written statement that "as a result, East High School now has an exclusive restroom for male students and no restroom for female students on its second floor." The department also said it had received reports of all-gender restrooms in at least two other Denver schools.

The U.S. Department of Education said it will investigate Denver Public Schools after East High School recently installed an all-gender multi-stall restroom.

The federal Education Department says the move may violate Title IX, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex.
