St. Louis Cardinals catcher Iván Herrera was placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday because of a bone bruise in his left knee. Pedro Pages is expected to get the bulk of the action behind the plate with Herrera out.

The St. Louis Cardinals had some rough luck on Sunday. St. Louis faced the Boston Red Sox and dropped both games of the doubleheader. More importantly, though, the Cardinals lost Iván Herrera to a knee injury.

The Cardinals placed catcher Iván Herrera on the 10-day injured list this morning. His stay will last well beyond the minimum. Manager Oli Marmol told the team’s beat that Herrera was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee (link via MLB.com’s John Denton ). He’ll be out for at least a month.
