As a coastal storm moves its way up the East Coast, forecasters at the National Weather Service in Wakefield are warning of high winds and moderate flooding through the rest of the weekend.
Yes. Though the NWS and NOAA will continue their life-saving essential work, many feeds and other public-facing services will be shuttered. The National Hurricane Center will continue to provide updates that protect life and safety, while other informational accounts will cease during the shutdown.
After the coastal storm passes Monday into Tuesday, temperatures will struggle to reach 60 degrees Thursday and Friday before warming up for the weekend.
Strong wind gusts will remain through Monday morning, but conditions will improve later in the day, the National Weather Service said.
Most of the weather service is deemed "essential," and operations will mostly be unaffected. However, there will be some impacts.
RIsk of coastal flooding was updated to a "warning" for eastern portions of Bergen, Hudson and Essex counties.
