Gov. Gavin Newsom of California called on Americans to stand up to President Trump in a nationally televised address.

Newsom's 2028 presidential aspirations hang in the balance as the eyes of the nation are on California's clash with immigration authorities.

President Donald Trump hit back at Gov. Gavin Newsom's claims that the president did not call him recently, showing a screenshot of the call to Fox News.

The California Governor has sued the U.S. President over the mobilization of the National Guard, calling it “an unmistakable step toward authoritarianism.”

The temporary restraining order request alleges the deployment “escalates tensions and promotes (rather than quells) civil unrest.”

Both Trump and his "border czar," Tom Homan, have said California officials could face arrest if they're perceived as impeding ICE operations.

President Trump and California Gov. Gavin Newsom have engaged in an escalating war of words that included Trump saying it would be "a great thing" if Homan arrested the California governor. "CBS Evening News" co-anchor John Dickerson asked Homan about the comments.
