Of the many notables surrounding the Cincinnati Bengals loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 6, the benching of a starter didn’t initially make waves.
The Green Bay Packers are 2-1-1, which has them in the early NFL Playoffs picture through the season’s first five weeks. However, they have not won a game since Week Two after dropping their Week Three contest to the lowly Cleveland Browns and tying the Dallas Cowboys in Week Four.
Following Lukas Van Ness’ foot injury, Kingsley Enagabare and Barryn Sorrell had to step up in the lineup. What’s interesting is that Rashan Gary continues to miss about two of five plays on defense, even when Van Ness was out of the game. The only other player who plays that few snaps on defense as a starter is defensive tackle Colby Wooden.
Sunday’s game between the Packers and the Bengals was also the first game of October, where the NFL promotes “Crucial Catch Intercept Cancer.”
