Makar has said on multiple occasions that he was not there, was not part of the incident and has cooperated with Hockey Canada’s investigation into the matter.

Alex Formenton, Carter Hart, Dillon Dubé, Michael McLeod and Cal Foote have all been charged with sexual assault in connection to an alleged incident following a Hockey Canada fundraising event in 2018.

The trial involving five members of Canada’s 2018 World Junior Championship team began on Tuesday morning in London, with a few current NHLers among those who have been called in as witnesses.
