The announcement came shortly after the Lynx’s 87-71 loss to the Chicago Sky. The Lynx are now 18-4 on the season, owners of the best record in the WNBA. Presumably, Minnesota will sign another player to their 12th roster spot in place of Pili, but who that will be has yet to be announced.
The Lynx looked out of sorts and fatigued in their 11th game in 21 days, and players and coach Cheryl Reeve criticized the schedule.
Collier went off as well, dropping a team-high 26 points with eight boards, five assists, three steals, and three blocks, but in the end, Reese and Co. secured a wire-to-wire victory, 87-81, to hand Minnesota just its fourth loss of the season.
The Minnesota Lynx waived their 2024 first-round pick, Alissa Pili, on Saturday afternoon, less than 500 days after she was drafted. Pili was selected by Minnesota with the eighth overall pick in 2024. They notably opted to trade out of the seventh pick in that year's draft, which became current Chicago Sky All-Star forward Angel Reese.
