An ex-employee of Sacred Heart University facing sex crime charges called himself “an evil of the world” in a pre-written apology note found by investigators after he was arrested by an undercover cop posing as a 14-year-old girl last week.

A Sacred Heart University Athletics Department staff member has been suspended after being arrested on felony sex charges involving attempted sexual assault of a minor, authorities said. Matthew Janik,

Janik, 39, was arrested on Dec. 30 in Bloomfield and is facing several charges, including enticing a minor by computer, attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor and attempted illegal sexual contact with a victim under 16.

The arrest was made by Bloomfield police, who worked in conjunction with the Connecticut Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, following an investigation into online enticement of children.
