Shortages of Ozempic and Wegovy that have been in place for more than two years have been resolved, as supplies of the popular diabetes and obesity treatments continue to improve, federal regulators said Friday.

Now, one type of weight-loss medication is proving helpful with another health issue. In a study published Feb. 12 in JAMA Psychiatry, researchers report that semaglutide, better known as Ozempic or Wegovy, helped people with alcohol addiction reduce their craving and drink less.

The shortage of Novo Nordisk’s (NVO) blockbuster diabetes and weight-loss drugs is officially over, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

A bipartisan group of U.S. state and territory attorneys general is pressing the FDA to take prompt action against those threatening public health by marketing counterfeit forms of branded weight loss medications developed by Novo Nordisk (NVO) and Eli Lilly (NYSE:LLY).
