Today the Government announced the abolition of the roles of Police and Crime Commissioners and in Cleveland, the PCC will be replaced by a Crime and Policing board giving our our local authorities the task of holding the Chief Constable to account and settling the Crime and Policing Plan. The government has concluded that the public have not bought into the current model and cite the low turnouts in PCC elections. That doesn't mean to say there hasn't been some excellent work done by some PCCs
