Eugen Sandow- the father of modern bodybuilding. In 1889 Eugen Sandow, a Jewish pioneering German bodybuilder, took part in the strongmen competition, in London. Sandow easily beat the reigning champion and won instant fame and recognition for his strength. Soon after he became a worldwide athletic superstar. In 1894, Sandow was featured in a short film series by the Edison Studios. The film featured him flexing his muscles rather than showing his physical strength. | HistoryBites
