Teach your kid how to spell with DICTATION! I do this immediately after teaching a new phonics sound or concept. Have the new sound displayed for them to see and give them a few words to spell using these steps: 1. Pound the word (repeat the word) 2. Tap the sounds 3. Write the sounds 4. Read back the words A lot of kids are so quick to spell words without even thinking about the sounds they hear. This helps them slow down and really think about. It also connects phonemic awareness with spelling
