We joined the people of Seaham to remember the victims of the town’s colliery disasters today. An explosion at Seaham colliery claimed the lives of 164 men and boys on 8 September 1880. This followed the disaster of 1871 in which 26 miners were killed. A service of commemoration for the victims of both disasters was held at Christ Church today. Our Secretary Alan Mardghum and chair Stephen Guy were among those who spoke and laid wreaths in tribute to the fallen miners of Seaham. The Durham Miner
