Happy #MigrationMondays! This week we take a dive into the bands that we put on birds legs. Bird bands are made from aluminum and contain a nine digit number. Each band number is unique to the bird it is put on. Bird banding in North America is managed collaboratively by the United States Geologic Survey and the Canadian Wildlife Service. The bands we use range in size from 0A (Ruby-crowned Kinglet) to 9C (American White Pelican), though even smaller bands are made just for hummingbirds! A quest
