Yesterday we came across the worst turtle injury I’ve ever seen! This beautiful juvenile Alligator Snapping Turtle (Macrochelys apalachicolae) was caught by @gregsturtlehaven as a part of his research and he saw this gruesome injury. Fishing hooks often times are found in the mouths of the turtles we catch in areas where baited fishing is popular, but to see this protruding from the skull was extra gnarly.
